The Department of Law and Justice of the Presidency University<\/a>\u00a0has attained a significant landmark on the global stage. Representing Bangladesh as the sole participating institution, the University took part in the prestigious IBA ICC Moot Court Competition 2025, held from 11 to 18 June 2025 in The Hague, Netherlands.<\/p>\n

This international competition brought together 88 teams of law students from 45 different countries, simulating proceedings of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Through this platform, students gained first-hand experience in international criminal law, human rights, and judicial processes.In the view of this achievement, the Presidency University team received the \u2018IBA Spirit of the Competition Award\u2019, introduced this year for the first time by the International Bar Association (IBA). This award is presented to a team that demonstrates unwavering commitment, perseverance, and dedication in the face of challenges and limitations.<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s success is the culmination of the tireless efforts of their coach, Ms. Sal Sabil Chowdhury<\/a>, and the visionary leadership of Mr. Md. Deedarul Islam Bhuiyan<\/a>, Head of the Department of Law and Justice. Their work was powered by the other faculty members of the Department. Additionally, the intensive supervision and academic guidance of the Dean of the School of Law, Mr. Mohammad Azharul Islam played an instrumental role in the entire process. Competing alongside globally renowned institutions and earning this honor marks a major milestone for the internationalization of legal education in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

The moot court team was comprised of Syed Mahin, Md. Mahbubur Rahman Sohag, Sonali Rajbangshi from LLB Hons. first year as mooters and Dipannita Chakma from LLM as researcher with Ms. Sal Sabil Chowdhury as their Coach and Md. Rafi Ibn Masud as the assistant coach.This historic win has sparked immense pride among the university\u2019s faculty, students, alumni and guardians.<\/p>\n

Mr. Md. Didarul Islam Bhuiyan<\/a>, Head of the Department, views the achievement as under:
\n\u201cThis achievement is not just personal to our students, but a historic success for legal education in Bangladesh. It will serve as a beacon of inspiration for future law students. Our students have shown that with the right guidance and support, they can lead on a global platform.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In this regard, Professor Mohammad Azharul Islam, Dean of the School of Law, added:
\n\u201cWe are extremely proud that our students have showcased their talent in such a complex and challenging field like law, on an international stage which will undoubtedly inspire future generations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

While commenting on this success, Professor Dr. Anwarul Kabir, Chief Advisor of the University, said:
\n\u201cThis is not merely participation in a competition\u2014it\u2019s a testament to the talent, intellect, and leadership potential of Bangladeshi students on the world stage. This pride belongs to us all.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Abdul Mannan Chowdhury<\/a> in his message of congratulations said:
\n\u201cThis achievement goes beyond the boundaries of our Law Department\u2014it is a significant milestone for the entire education sector of Bangladesh. Our students have shown that determination and wisdom can overcome adversity and achieve global recognition. I am immensely proud, and I believe this success will light the way forward.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The University authority extends heartfelt gratitude to the International Bar Association (IBA) and Leiden University for offering this distinguished platform to participate in the esteemed International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition. Presidency University also expresses its sense of gratitude to its BOT Chairman Mr. Abu Sayeed Chowdhury for his kind guidance and continuing support to make this event a success.<\/p>\n

Finally, it is noteworthy that this achievement is not just an award\u2014it is a symbol of the courage, talent, and global aspirations of Bangladeshi students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
