Abu Bakar Siddik is currently serving as a Lecturer of History in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Presidency University, Gulshan-2, Dhaka. He previously held the same position at Daffodil International University, Savar campus. Abu Bakar completed both his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) in History from the University of Dhaka, securing the 1st position in both programs. He graduated with a CGPA of 3.73 in B.A. (2019) and 3.92 in M.A. (2020), earning multiple academic honors including the Shahid Ghiyasuddin Ahmad Gold Medal and various merit-based scholarships and recognitions. His research interests include South Asian history, with a particular focus on the early medieval and medieval history of Bengal/Bangladesh, the Islamization process in the region, the Islamic culture and heritage of Bengal, shaped by nearly eight centuries of Muslim rule, highlighting an era of religious pluralism and intellectual vibrancy essential to understanding the contemporary Bangladesh’s identity. He has received training in research methodology and continues to be actively engaged in academic research and teaching in the field of South Asian and Bengal history.
