Md. Azizul Islam Ashik is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Presidency University, where he applies his extensive academic training and broad research interests to enhance both pedagogy and scholarly inquiry. He holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in English Literature (first position) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Language and Literature from the University of Dhaka, which have equipped him with a solid foundation in literary analysis and critical theory.
His research encompasses a range of significant areas, including Postcolonialism, where he critically examines the cultural and political implications of colonial legacies in literary texts; Modernism and Postmodernism, where he explores the philosophical and aesthetic dimensions that define these pivotal movements; and various Literary Theories that inform contemporary literary critique. In addition, he has a specialized interest in the Theater of the Absurd, investigating its themes and techniques in relation to existential questions and the human condition.
Md. Ashik is particularly focused on Magic Realism, especially within the context of Latin American literature, and conducts critical analyses of Postcolonial themes in Shakespeare’s works, shedding light on issues of identity and power dynamics. His interdisciplinary approach also includes Film Theories, where he examines the interplay between cinematic and literary narratives, as well as the impact of architectural movements on narrative construction in both film and literature.
