On Wednesday, 13 August 2025, the Department of English, Presidency University, hosted a seminar featuring a paper presentation by Md. Habibullah, Associate Professor, titled βFeministic Islamophobia: Representation of Muslim Women in V.S. Naipaulβs Travelogues and Daniel Pipesβ History.β
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Farhana Ahsan & Md. Abdul Momen Sarkar, PhD research fellow of Nagaland University; Minhazul Abedin, PhD research fellow of Kathmundu University; Md. Deedarul Islam Bhuiyan, Head, Department of Law and Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Head, Department of EEE at Presidency University; Md. Anisur Rahman, Proctor, Presidency University and Prof. Dr. Md. Anwarul Kabir, Principal Advisor of Presidency University. The paper presentation was concluded with a lively Q&A session involving the presenter, guests, faculty, and students. The seminar offered an insightful exploration of how feminism can be co-opted to perpetuate Islamophobic narratives, as examined through the works of V.S. Naipaul and Daniel Pipes.
