The Department of English at Presidency University is delighted to announce that one of our esteemed faculty members, Tasnia Islam, has recently published a translated work in a collection of short stories titled মাঠের পারের দূরের দেশ, released by Gronthik Publications. Her contribution to the volume is a translation of “On the Ferry” by renowned Filipino writer N.V.M. Gonzalez.
Tasnia Islam has been serving at Presidency University since 2011 and currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of English. She completed both her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in English Literature at Jahangirnagar University. Beyond her academic commitments, she is an active literary translator, working with both literary and non-literary texts across Bengali and English. Her translations have appeared in several prominent literary magazines in Bangladesh. Her academic interests include Cultural Studies, Translation Studies, and Gender Studies, areas in which she continues to contribute through her teaching, research, and creative work.
